Colorado River at Navajo Bridge
Project type
Portrait
Date
July 2025
Location
Marble Canyon, Arizona
Near Marble Canyon in northern Arizona, the Colorado River flows deep and emerald green beneath the twin spans of the Historic Navajo Bridge. Towering red rock cliffs rise hundreds of feet above the water, framing one of the first glimpses of Grand Canyon country. This stretch of the river is calm and glassy, reflecting the fiery hues of the surrounding canyon walls and the stark desert sky. From the pedestrian walkway of the original 1929 bridge, visitors can look straight down at the Colorado winding through the gorge — often spotting rafts beginning their Grand Canyon journey or California condors gliding on thermals above. The setting combines dramatic scenery with a sense of history, making it one of northern Arizona’s most striking river overlooks.
